Hurricane Isaias made landfall near Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina at 11:10 p.m. last night, August 3, 2020. The storm headed directly north to the City of Wilmington and was downgraded to a Tropical storm. The storm struck Wilmington with 46 mph sustained winds and gusts to 74 mph were recorded. All Saints Anglican Parish on North College Street in Wilmington was directly in the path of the storm and sustained a small amount of damage. Four trees were taken down by the winds, as well as many limbs and branches. A small shed was destroyed by a falling tree but no damage was recorded to the church building and parish hall. The Right Reverend David Haines, rector of All Saints, describes the damage as “relatively light.” The last hurricane to strike the Wilmington area was Hurricane Florence in 2018.
