On Saturday, April 21, 2018, clergy from the Mid-Atlantic Deanery gathered at All Saints Church in Charlottesville, Virginia for a day of prayer, fellowship, and study. They read Morning Prayer at 10:00 a.m. and heard news updates and prayer requests from their parishes. Then they had a long discussion about how to survive and prosper in parochial ministry. At noon, newly ordained priest, Fr. Sean McDermott, celebrated Holy Communion for them, and then they had a scrumptious lunch. After lunch they continued their discussion with a study on the nature and authority of rubrics in the Book of Common Prayer, using a paper prepared for the subject by Fr. Glenn Spencer. The deanery meeting closed with Evening Prayer at 2:00 p.m. The next deanery meeting will be held in the fall at St. Alban’s Church, Joppa, Maryland.
