This year’s women’s retreat will be held October 19-21, 2017, at the Abbey of Our Lady of the Holy Spirit, Conyers, Georgia.
This Instructed Retreat is a time together and a time alone. The purpose is both spiritual growth and physical rest. Those who wish may come early and have their own personal retreat before the instructed retreat. Each woman is responsible for making her own reservations for and paying for any personal retreat. The reservation number at the Abbey is 770-760-0959. The instructed retreat is organized through the attached registration materials. A block of rooms has been reserved for the instructed retreat.
The retreat will be held in a monastic environment. The participants will attend many of the services with the Cistercian (Trappist) monks and eat their meals in silence in the designated areas. During the instructed retreat, the women will spend time together in study sessions exploring how to live in this hostile world using St. John’s teachings. The 1st and 2nd Epistles of St. John should be read beforehand. The participants are encouraged to note any questions they may have with the text and these questions will be answered during the retreat. Discussions will center on the question: “How do we live what St. John teaches?” Also, the Rt. Rev. Chandler Jones, the retreat spiritual director, will give an update on the historic joint synods which happened earlier in October.
There will be time for each woman to be alone to work on her own spiritual project as well being able to spend time in. Bp. Jones will be available for individual spiritual need. Deaconess Tina Jenkins will be the Retreat Leader.
Registration deadline is October 10, 2017
