An Easter Tradition is born!

With the arrival of Miss Judy Rhodes as choirmaster and organist at All Saints Church in Mills River, North Carolina in 2014, the vocal renderings of the church choir took a new and exciting direction. In anticipation of her first Easter with the parish in 2015, she prepared the choir for the singing of the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah for Easter Day, with the encouragement of the rector of the parish, Fr. Erich Zwingert. The choir’s work was well received by the congregation. On Easter of 2016, Miss Rhodes asked the congregation to join with the choir in the singing of this musical piece. While many members were bit reticent to join in the singing, they appreciated the opportunity to sing this classic piece of music. This year on Easter Day 2017, the congregation joined in great voice, enjoying themselves tremendously. The Chorus is sung immediately following the Gloria in exclesis, before the dismissal and blessing. With more than 100 voices joining in this year, a new Easter tradition has been born at All Saints Church. Have a listen…
