September 18, 2016 was an historic day in life of St. Paul’s Church, Crownsville, Maryland. The Most Rev. Walter H. Grundorf, D.D., Bishop Ordinary of the Diocese of The Eastern United States, Presing Bishop, confirmed four members of the parish, consecrated the main church building, blessed the chapel, and helped the members cermonially burn the mortgage documents. The Rector Emeritus of St. Paul’s, the Rt. Rev. Bob Loiselle, and his wife Emily were in attendance. Bishop Grundorf was assisted by the Rev. Tom Burr, the current rector of the parish. A parishioner stated, “It was a wonderful and inspiring service in a packed church and was truly a joyful celebration.” Ironically, the local fire department, under lights and siren, responded to a call and went by the church just as the cermonial burning began. The Hospitality Committee of the parish provided a wonderful reception for the confirmands and Bishop and Mrs. Grundorf following the festivities. This event is the culmination of the efforts, which began but 15 months ago, by the parish members to retire their mortgage of $275,000 on the main church building.
